I was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2011.  I was lucky to be treated in a hospital that offered lots of support to cancer patients and I feel that this contributed to my recovery.  I am a patient representative for various cancer charities and a Community Champion on the Bowel Cancer Forum for Macmillan where I try to offer support to members going through treatment and/or with some of the lasting consequences associated with their treatment.

I am keen to see that the new bowel cancer screening tests are quickly implemented throughout the Country, as early detection is so important. I also hope that my involvement as a Public-Patient Group member of BCI UK gives researchers an insight into what is important to Bowel Cancer Patients.
