In 2012, my mum was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer and passed away 4 weeks later.  She’d had several tests and investigations prior to her diagnosis but the cancer wasn’t detected until she was admitted into hospital as an emergency.   Any research which can work towards preventing this happening to others and improving outcomes for patients in the future will have a huge impact.
