New quality of life paper
Researcher Niamh McKigney has a new paper in the prestigious European Journal of Surgical Oncology. Entitled, “Registry-Based Study Comparing Health-Related Quality of Life between patients with Primary Rectal Cancer and Locally Recurrent Rectal Cancer”, the paper found a particular quality of life measure (the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy – Colorectal, or FACT-C for short) could distinguish between these patient groups providing evidence that the measure is a worthwhile addition to colorectal cancer registries. The research was a collaboration that used data collected in two previous studies. The first was a study of quality of life in patients treated for bowel cancer in England, the second was a study to develop a questionnaire specifically to measure quality of life in patients with locally recurrent rectal cancer.
